This Feeling

There’s a voice in my head,
Pulling me back to everything
I left behind.
Each tug, piling doubt,
On what’s yet to be determined
About the next steps ahead.
I push, resist, and wait.
The waiting feels heavy;
I can’t swallow the worry,
And it sits like heavy sand,
Filling every gap,
Every breach of uncertainty.
There’s a voice in my head,
Saying this too shall pass.

And I wait,
Feeling caught, suspended—undone.
